CLIFF RICHARD
London 1979 [no label, 2CD]
Live at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK; December 1979. Very good FM broadcast.
Thanks to guesswho for sharing the show at Dime.
guesswho noted:
Discovered a bunch of FM concert broadcasts I recorded onto cassette back in the day. Don’t think I’ve seen much Cliff stuff on Dime but I’m sure this recording will interest a few folks.
Here are 90 minutes of Cliff Richard from a BBC Radio FM broadcast. It is unclear the exact date of the gig but it is either the 13th, 14th or 15th December 1979.
Once on my PC I put the raw file through Adobe Audition to tweak the sound slightly including speed correcting and sort out a tape flip. I discovered that for the first six songs my 41-year-old recording had lost a lot of sparkle. The sound was muffled but then after that the tape appeared to have coped with the ravages of time.
So in order to be able to upload the full broadcast I had to work on the start of the tape to match the audio quality of the rest. It took a while but with a little bit of EQ and other magic I was able to make the first six songs sound almost as good as the rest. I then tracked using Audacity before converting to FLAC using TLH.
