JO ANN KELLY AND PETER EMERY
Buckinghamshire 1975 [no label, 1CD]
Live at the Folk Club, Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK; 1975. Very good audience recording.
Jo Ann Kelly (1944-1990) was an English blues singer and guitarist. “To many American performers”, an obituarist wrote, “Jo Ann Kelly was the only British singer to earn their respect for her development of what they would be justified in thinking as ‘their’ genre”. - wikipedia

DimeTravel brings you uncirculated, alternate source or remastered UK country blues & electric blues & bluesrock 1966-1976. “We’re out to drive your ears your nuts!”
This would seem to be the first ever full set of Jo Ann on DIME & I would say it is LONG overdue… There have been a few uploads in the past with 2-4 tracks or so. Let’s hope some folks can produce some more! This wonderful recording is like pulling 200 pounds of joy out of a single sardine tin - a blues miracle.
I reckon a lot of American music freaks were first turned on to Jo Ann by the LP “An Anthology Of British Blues Vol 1″ which appeared in the cutout bins in the States early on and was sucked down by almost every record buyin’ bluesrock damaged hippie on the planet as it featured then rare trax by John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Savoy Brown, Eric Clapton & Tony TS McPhee.
- EXC up-front at stage SWEET recording.
- Warts: Almost none. #5 has a split second speed variation (taper brushed reel?). Bit of mike noise at start of #10. Occasional low level club noise but ’tis more cool ambience than an audio issue or distraction.
- CD-R labeled “Newport Pagnal Folk Club circa 1975″.
