The show itself is pretty good. Beneath the Mire and Isolation Years are my highlights, and the unexpected inclusion of Demon of the Fall was very nice. Unlike the Evolution XX shows where the Blackwater Park album (2001) was played entirely uninterrupted, Mikael speaks often throughout both sets. Of interest to me is that during the Evolution XX show in LA Mikael rhetorically asked the crowd if they ‘…look like we take requests?’ and replied ‘Maybe when we’re old and don’t give a fuck anymore.’ And here we are, with around seven minutes of snippets of various songs during the second set. This has been done at each of the 25th anniversary shows and with different snippets each night, so it’s unlikely to be completely staged… Anyway, thanks to Swijj for taping and being cool with circulation!
