TEN YEARS AFTER
Frankfurt 1972 [no label, 1CD]
Live at the Festhalle, Frankfurt, West Germany; April 1, 1972. Fairly to very good audience recording.
Thanks to the late Bernhard Zipp who recorded the show; and to vortex242 for sharing it at The Traders’ Den.

In 1972 my late friend Bernhard recorded TYA at the Festhalle in Frankfurt. He praised the recording every time we discussed TYA. He left our world last April and it seems that I’m now the curator of the BZ archive he left in my posession when he left Berlin some years ago…
So here’s BZA-0001 (BZ-Archive), that BZ master tape, which sounds stunning for a ‘72 recording. Unfortunately, it’s not complete, missing the last three songs. I have no idea if he made a complete recording, the tape does not indicate a part two. So this is what we have. I rate this B+ or A-. At times you can hear some speed changes, but these are not distracting from the great sound… If only there were some Who shows from 1972 that would sound that good…
‘The Hobbit’ was introduced as ‘Frankfurt Express’, thus the title modification. The ‘Recorded Live’ album was not recorded on that show, that was done in January 1973.
Hey Bernhard, this is for you!! Keep it Rockin’ in Heaven!
