JAMES TAYLOR
New York 1970 [no label, 2CD]

Live at The Jabberwocky, Syracuse, New York; February 6, 1970. Very good soundboard.

Comments posted at Dime:

This is the concert you should have if you can only own just one bootleg from JT. These concerts are a jewel from the early times of James Taylor, and the quality of these records is excellent. The Jabberwocky sessions were a series of eight concerts James gave at Syracuse University during the 5th, 6th and 7th of February 1970. Apart from his own songs, JT sings a lot of beautiful covers, and do plenty of talk displaying a wonderful sense of humor.

Jeff Chard:

I guess I’m the one to clarify the question about the dates of the James Taylor shows. I was concert coordinator at SU during the early ’70s, and music director of WAER, the SU college station. James was at Jabberwocky, a 200-seat basement club on the Syracuse University campus, for three nights in Feb 1970. On Thursday night, 2/5, he did two sets. Friday 2/6 and Saturday 2/7 were three-set nights each. I taped all eight sets on my reel-to-reel via a soundboard patch, with James’ permission. One set was broadcast live on WAER.
